Khan-Bernier is a business consultancy focused on sustainable development of the Monterey Bay Tri-County Region.

In business since 2003 providing business incubator management services and business consulting services to clients starting up non-profit and for profit businesses, Khan-Bernier was formerly known as California Grant Support Services, specializing in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) compliance. Khan-Bernier expanded its focus to deliver the full range of services needed by business incubators and their clients and is now most active in developing regional identity and collaboration primarily centered around sustainable development and innovation in the Monterey Bay region.

Chris Khan is the principal of Khan-Bernier, a sustainable business development services consultancy to private start-up companies and public entities. He also manages Joint Venture Monterey Bay, focused on sustainable development and innovation in the Monterey Bay tri-county region. Chris served as Associate Director of the Marina Technology Cluster, and has worked with over two hundred clients at the incubator since 2003.

Chris’s background includes more than 18 years experience in the semiconductor industry in the areas of production, engineering, and management. He was CEO of Epitaxy, Inc., where he led the company to successful acquisition by LG of Korea. He has consulted in  software design and development for Washington and California-based companies including his work as a standards research fellow for the Department of Defense in Seaside, California. He is retired from the School of Information Technology and Communications Design at CSU Monterey Bay after 10 years as a program coordinator, lecturer, and graduate advisor.

Chris holds an MS degree in Management and Information Technology and a BS degree in Telecommunications, Multimedia, and Applied Computing, both from CSU Monterey Bay, and is a graduate of the Leadership Monterey Peninsula program.

Chris currently serves as the Board Chair for “Joint Venture Monterey Bay”, and for “Loaves, Fishes, and Computers”. He is a Board Member for “Leadership Monterey Peninsula”, and “Solsustech Incorporated”. And he is on the steering committees of The Startup Challenge, Monterey Bay Regional Climate Action Compact and the Monterey Bay National Heritage Area Alliance.

  Joint Venture Monterey Bay: is working toward a resilient regional economy based on collaborative efforts around sustainable development and innovation in the Monterey Bay Region
  Brand Monterey Bay: is a business league dedicated to promoting the Monterey Bay Region for Investment, Trade, and Tourism.
  - Marina Technology Cluster: A business incubator with facilities and services to support the development of new and growing businesses in the Monterey Bay tri-county region.

  - The Startup Challenge: (formerly called the Monterey Bay Regional Business Plan Competition) A showcase for new business ideas from the region and a chance for local investors to get an early look at opportunities developing closer to home.
  - Loaves, Fishes, and Computers: Rescuing unused computers before they become waste, training volunteers who would like to learn computer repair skills to refurbish them, and then providing the low-cost refurbished computers to families in need of them.
  - Leadership Monterey Peninsula: Developing leadership skills and awareness of regional issues in individuals interested in community involvement.
  - Solsustech Incorporated: Providing sustainable solutions for current challenges in agriculture.
  - Monterey Bay Regional Climate Action Compact: The long-term vision of the Climate Action Compact is to place the entire Monterey Bay Area in the vanguard of regions committed to linking economic, social and environmental sustainability.
  - Monterey Bay National Heritage Area Alliance: MBNHAA’s mission is to create a shared alliance for representatives of Monterey Bay communities, agencies, and other interested organizations to collaborate in the promotion, preservation and conservation of our natural and cultural heritage.
